TITAN GEL Lipoproteins

The need for accurate determination of lipoprotein phenotypes resulted from the recognition that hyperlipidemia is symptomatic of a group of disorders dissimilar in clinical features, prognosis, and responsiveness to treatment. Since treatment of hyperlipidemia varies with the different phenotypes, it is absolutely necessary that the correct phenotype be established before therapy is begun. Electrophoresis is an excellent method for phenotyping lipoproteins.

When subjected to electrophoresis, lipoproteins separate into alpha, pre-beta, and beta lipoproteins, and on occasion, chylomicrons appear as a distinct band. Most of the cholesterol is transported by the beta lipoproteins and most of the endogenous triglycerides are carried by pre-beta lipoproteins.

 TITAN GEL Lipoprotein Kit

 10 x 8 samples/gel

Kits include: 10 Gels, Lipoprotein Buffer, Fat Red 7B Stain, Templates, Blotters.

The kit contains reagents and supplies for assaying lipoprotein fractions in 80 samples (8 per gel). Bands are sharp, with distinct separation of the alpha, pre-beta and beta fractions. The beta fraction moves cleanly away from the application site. For trouble-free scanning, the gel background remains clear after staining with Fat Red 7B.

 LipoTrol

 5 x 1 mL

LipoTrol contains alpha, pre-beta, and beta lipoprotein bands, and is assayed for the relative percent of each band presented. The control is prepared from human serum. Reconstituted control is stable 3 days at 2 to 6°C.

Also for use with REP and SPIFE Lipoprotein assays.
