Immunofixation

Immunofixation

Helena is a pioneer in the detection of monoclonal gammopathies by high resolution electrophoresis followed by immunoprecipitation, a technique called immunofixation. SPIFE ImmunoFix is an industry standard. Full-sized gels to accomodate from one to 15 profiles including IgG, IgA, IgM, K and λ, are available, with a maximum throughput of up to 210 profiles in a single 8-hour shift. Multichannel pipetting makes antisera application very efficient and antisera affinity and avidity are balanced for highest sensitivity with the least background blush.

ImmunoFix Quality Control

Cat. No. / Item / Description

9400 – ImmunoFix Contro Kit (1 x 0.5 mL each) IgG Kappa Control, IgA Lambda Control, IgM Control

ImmunoFix Controls are used to confirm antisera reactivity. After electrophoresis, the appropriate control is applied to a well at the end of each channel on the gel. Precipitin rings form around wells, indicating proper antigen/antibody reactions. Controls can also be treated as a patient sample to verify all phases of IFE procedure.

an immunofixation tutorial

This guide is intended as a primer to the use and interpretation of immunofixation for characterizing monoclonal proteins (M-proteins) in human serum and urine. It contains examples of common and MGUS patterns, as well as those with complex, multiple proteins and light chains. Suggestions for follow-up testing and interpretive comments are included.
